I got an error regarding wrong architechture when I force install it! Strange, it works flawlessly on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit and without the -force-architecture parameter. I tied it in crunchbang linux (a debian based Linux OS) but with no luck. Now continue following the instructions in Step 2. If it gives you errors, go to the terminal and type the following command: cd ~/Desktop & sudo dpkg -i b Go back to your Ubuntu and paste the file to your Desktop and install it by double clicking it. It will show up as a USB storage device.īrowse it and copy the file b (our driver) to any storage device. If already installed, uninstall it.) Then reconnect the device. In case you are not able to mount the device (in Step 1), there is an alternative:Ĭonnect the device to a Windows PC. I'm using this dongle with Reliance netconnect 3G. It will show command executed successfully. Install it.Īfter the installation is complete, type the following in the terminal: usbdeviceswitchdlink You will see the cdrom mounted on the left. Once mounted, press Alt+ F2, and type nautilus.
Note: the X in /dev/srX must be 1 or 2 - use accordingly. If yes (you see it), you need to uninstall usb_modeswitch. If you don't see usb_modeswitch, it means it is not installed - good, you don't need it. In the terminal, type usb then press Tab twice.
D LINK DWM 156.BIN FILE DRIVER
Once successfully installed, proceed ahead and you shouldn't get any error messages once you have installed the 32 bit driver on your 64 bit Ubuntu.
If you get an error message, run the command again. The above command will add 32 bit compatibility on 64 bit Ubuntu successfully. At the terminal ( Ctrl+ Alt+ T) type this: sudo suĪnd enter your password. The error was /usr/bin/usbdeviceswitchdlink: command not found. I used this driver with Lubuntu 64 bit and got an error message when I ran the command: usbdeviceswitchdlink This successfully gets installed on a 64 bit Ubuntu if, and only if you have ia32-libs installed. The driver supplied with the dongle is a 32 bit driver. Before proceeding ahead, I would say that I used ultimate edition linux 3.4 64 bit- this distro has all the library and dependencies for installing drivers( ia32-libs, usb_modeswitch).
